Eri Kiuchi (木内 えり) and Katsumi Sato (佐藤 勝美) are a pair of manga-only characters that appear in the Yu Yu Hakusho series.
Appearance[]
Katsumi has shoulder-length black hair and wears a typical school uniform with a dark blazer and knee-length skirt. Eri has blonde hair and wears the same uniform as Katsumi, but wears a jacket over a blouse and a dark skirt when walking down the street.
Personality[]
Katsumi was outwardly confident, while Eri was quiet and often got bullied. While Katsumi protected Eri from bullies, she was jealous of her because of her slightly higher grades, and knew that they could not both get accepted at the high school they were striving for. Katsumi was willing to put a curse on Eri, but quickly regretted it and reconciled with Eri, who forgave her because of her kind nature.

Although Eri was the quieter one and Katsumi was more extroverted and outspoken, they were good friends who never quarreled.
However, behind her façade of confidence, Katsumi was always jealous of Eri because Eri's grades were slightly higher than hers, and she was always being compared to Eri. Seeing how there was only one available spot for a scholarship for the prestigious N high school that both were striving for, Katsumi knew that she would lose and thus found a curse in an old library book and placed it on her friend Eri, out of jealousy. Eri began hearing strange voices, saw illusions, and faced near death multiple times, thanks to the curse.
Katsumi soon regretted her choice and tried to stop the evil spirits, but the deed had been done, and the ghosts began attacking her. Ultimately, however, Katsumi's will was strong enough to break the curse.
Despite the fact that both girls got perfect scores on their standardized tests, they both decided to go to an all girl boarding school, "S high school", where they could both go to without competing with each other, much to the dismay of their teachers (who were even willing to allow the girl that wasn't picked for N high to go to another prestigious high school).
